HOUSTON – A Friendswood man alleges he lost vision in his right eye because of an operation to repair a detached retina.

Luke Dominic Rossi Jr. filed a complaint on Sept. 12 in the Harris County District Court against Paul J. Stewart, MD; James O. Holt, OD; and Eye Center of Texas LLP alleging medical negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 5, 2016, Stewart performed scleral buckle procedure and a pars plana vitrectomy on the plaintiff's right eye to repair a detached retina. During the course of the procedure, the plaintiff alleges his cornea was damaged and he has suffered severe and serious infection and an ulcer, resulting in near-blindness in his right eye.

The plaintiff holds Stewart, Holt and Eye Center of Texas LLP responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide appropriate and proper care, failed to provide treatment to prevent infection and failed to take adequate precautions to prevent injury.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all damages, plus interest, costs and such other and further relief to which he may be entitled. He is represented by Raymundo J. Vazquez of Law Office of Ray Vazquez PLLC in Houston.
