GALVESTON – A utility company alleges two individuals failed to reimburse it for damages caused to an electrical pole in an auto collision.

Centerpoint Energy Houston Electric LLC filed a complaint on Sept. 18 in the Galveston County District Court against Jerry Jerard Givens and Patrick Leon Norwood alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 19, 2016, defendant Norwood's vehicle, which was driven by Givens, struck plaintiff's electrical pole on Sewall Boulevard in Galveston, causing extensive damage. The cost to repair the utility pole was $5,117.96, the suit states.

The plaintiff holds Givens and Norwood responsible because defendant Given failed to follow proper road procedures and standards in operating defendant Norwood's vehicle and despite written demand for payments, the defendants refused to make an arrangement to reimburse plaintiff's expenses.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants, jointly and severally for a sum within the jurisdictional limits of the court; interest; costs; and such other and further relief to which plaintiff is entitled. It is represented by Jeffrey Wells Oppel of Oppel & Goldberg PLLC in Houston.
