Cylinder specialist sued for wrongful termination, 'extensive acts of sexual harassment' gone unchecked

Lawsuits

TYLER – A custom hydraulic and pneumatic cylinder specialist has been sued for sexual harassment by a woman it formerly employed as a manufacturing tester/stamper.

Recent Tyler federal court records show that LaTasha Tramel initiated legal action against West Craft Manufacturing, Inc. on Sept. 21.

According to Tramel, she was subjected to “extensive acts of sexual harassment by numerous male co-workers” including, but not limited to inappropriate sexual touching, lewd comments, and propositions for sex.

The suit says that though Tramel’s supervisor “knew about the sexual harassment” and was even a witness to many of the acts in question, “nothing was done to stop the harassment.”

“Instead, Tramel’s supervisor laughed at the sexually inappropriate behavior, (which emboldened the harassers to continue their sexually-harassing actions),” court documents state.

Tramel asserts that the hostile work environment she experienced worsened until West Craft terminated her in early 2015.

“The plaintiff was directly retaliated against in that the defendant denied the plaintiff raises, advancement opportunities, and terminated the plaintiff for engaging in protected activity as defined by Title VII,” the suit says.

Consequently, Tramel seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

The law firm Lee & Braziel, LLP in Dallas is representing the complainant.
