BEAUMONT – An oil spill at a Beaumont auto parts store is alleged to have caused a customer to fall.

Matthew Dickson filed a complaint on Sept. 11 in the Jefferson County District Court against Advance Stores Co. Inc., doing business as Advance Auto Parts No. 6752, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 3, 2017, he was shopping at defendant's Advance Auto Parts store No. 6752 on College Street in Beaumont when he slipped and fell on oil on the floor. He alleges he sustained injures to his right knee and to the body as a whole as a result of the fall.

The plaintiff holds Advance Stores Co. Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to warn of the oil spill.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $100,000 but less than $200,000 and such other and further relief to which he may be justly entitled. He is represented by Tom Oxford of Waldman Smallwood PC in Beaumont.
