GALVESTION – A woman alleges she was injured at a Sugarland warehouse club because liquid from a leaking trash bag caused her to fall.

Chastity Roxanne Brown filed a complaint on Sept. 27 in the Galveston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Costco Wholesale Corp. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 21, 2016, she was at the Costco Wholesale store in Sugarland and slipped on the liquid substance on the floor and fell. She alleges the liquid was from a cart filled with trash bags that an employee had pushed through the store.

She alleges she suffered injuries to several areas of her body, including her back, hands and neck as a result of the fall.

The plaintiff holds Costco Wholesale Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly train its employees to keep the premises free of hazards and failed to give adequate warning of the known danger.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for a sum in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of the court, with interest, and all other relief to which she may show herself justly entitled. She is represented by Alan Kolodny of Kolodny Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
