Lawsuits

GALVESTON – An Illinois-based business specializing in home safety products has been named in a federal lawsuit filed over an allegedly defective fire extinguisher.

Recent Galveston Division of the Southern District of Texas records show that Nancy Higgs sued BRK Brands, Inc. on Oct. 3, claiming she was injured by a First Alert Tundra fire extinguisher on Aug. 12, 2017.

The can, which the defendant manufactured and sold, exploded on Higgs as she reached for it under her kitchen sink, the suit says.

The subject event reportedly inflicted facial and bodily injuries upon the plaintiff.

Consequently, Higgs seeks unspecified monetary damages.

She is represented by John W. Stevenson, Jr. and W. Robert Hand of the law firm Stevenson & Murray in Houston.
