HOUSTON – A Baytown pawn shop finds itself as the subject of a personal injury lawsuit from a Chambers County man who claims he was injured by an object on the business’s counter.

Kweli Armstrong filed the suit against FirstCash, Inc. on Oct. 2 in the Harris County 11th District Court, alleging that “an extremely hot” cosmetic curling iron caused a burn on his arm.

The store manager was made aware of the incident but dismissed it as a ploy by Armstrong to get money, according to the original petition.

The plaintiff insists that he did nothing to cause his purported injuries.

Consequently, he seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

Armstrong is representing himself.
