Almeda Construction & Equipment charged with wrongful termination

Lawsuits
Wrongful term 02

HOUSTON — A laborer who is African-American is suing Almeda Construction & Equipment, a highway construction company, alleging racial discrimination and wrongful termination.

Joe R. Randle filed a complaint on Oct. 4, in the Harris County District Court, against Almeda Construction & Equipment alleging that the highway construction company violated Texas Labor Code.

Randle alleges that on March 9 he was fired from his job and listed as ineligible for rehire. He claims to have suffered lost wages, mental anguish, emotional distress and other pecuniary damages.

The plaintiff holds Almeda Construction & Equipment responsible, because the defendant allegedly discriminated against him in connection with compensation, terms and privileges of employment.

He alleges that Almeda Construction retaliated against him and terminated his employment for reporting both racial discrimination and sexual harassment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in excess of $100,000, plus interest, attorney's fees, costs and such other and further relief to which he may be entitled.

He is represented by Adam Poncio, Thomas N. Commack III and Alan Braun of Poncio Law Offices in San Antonio and Darius Khosravian of DK Law PLLC in Sugar Land.
