GALVESTON – A purported ship collision in the Houston Ship Channel two months ago has prompted a seaman from League City to initiate legal action against his employer.

In a lawsuit filed on Oct. 11 in the Galveston County 122nd District Court, Jason Boudreau blames the July 8 incident on G & H Towing.

An engineered assigned to the defendant’s M/V Mars vessel, Boudreau recalls the ship colliding with another vessel and the subsequent impact throwing him inside the engine room.

“The engine’s throttle failed to disengage, and the defendant had an incompetent, untrained, or otherwise incapable individual manning the controls of the vessel at the time of the collision,” the suit states.

Consequently, the plaintiff seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

He is represented by the law firm Zehl & Associates, PC in Houston.
