HOUSTON – A local man’s lawsuit against an oil field equipment supplier alleges that he was fired because he is black, recent Harris County District Court records show.

David Valentine filed the suit against TechnipFMC PLC on Oct. 8 in the Harris County 157th District Court.

The defendant, which was the result of a merger between FMC Technologies, Inc. and Technip, purportedly “had a clear intent to terminate” Valentine with his race as its motivation.

Court papers assert that the plaintiff “was treated with animosity and disrespect” and was forced to meet “a HC reduction target of $7 million dollars” which he says was “high and not attainable.”

The target was apparently a front for the company to terminate Valentine on May 2, 2017.

Consequently, the complainant seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

He is represented by Mark G. Lazarz and Taneska L. Jones of the law firm Shellist Lazarz Slobin LLP of Houston.
