Atlas Van Lines, Effort Enterprises of Dallas alleged to have damaged couple's belongings in move

SHERMAN – A couple who moved from Frisco to Massachusetts allege the movers they hired damaged their belongings and abandoned the job.

Karen E. Prince and Stephen L. Prince filed a complaint on Oct. 11 in the Sherman District of the Eastern District of Texas against Atlas Van Lines Inc. and Effort Enterprises of Dallas Inc., doing business as Atlantic Relocation Systems, alleging negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Dec. 21, 2016, they hired the defendants to move their household goods from Frisco to their home in Sudbury, Massachusetts for a total amount of $175,000. Upon delivery, they allege many items were damaged and arrived late and that the defendants abandoned the job on the second day. They also allege the defendants damaged the home while moving items.

They allege they sustained damages in the amount of $35,684.61, unpacking services of $953.41 and cost to repair the damage to their home in the amount of $8,310. 

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek actual and exemplary damages, attorney's fees, costs and all other relief to which they may prove themselves justly entitled in law or equity. They are represented by John W. Reeder in Plano.
