BEAUMONT – Before a jury could be selected, a lawsuit against Mercury Insurance Group over underinsured motorist benefits settled.

Seeking up to $1 million in damages, Rosa Sanchez filed suit on March 6, 2017, in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the original petition, on Aug. 5, 2013, Sanchez was traveling south on Ave. C near Bolivar Street when an “underinsured driver” struck her.

In her suit, Sanchez alleged Mercury, her insurance carrier at the time, failed to attempt to effectuate a fair settlement.

The case was slatted to go to trial on Oct. 29 but settled beforehand, according to a courthouse official.

Sanchez is represented by Houston attorney John Daspit.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, presided over the case.

Case No. E-199687
