SHERMAN – A Dallas consumer claims a debt collector is attempting to collect an alleged debt beyond the statute of limitations.

Almaz Yohannes filed a complaint on Oct. 26 in the Sherman District of the Eastern District of Texas against Paramount Recovery Systems LP alleging that the debt collector violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was in the process of purchasing a residential home when she discovered that defendant reported an alleged debt on her consumer reports, which she subsequently disputed.

The plaintiff holds Paramount Recovery Systems LP responsible because the defendant allegedly wrongfully reported the alleged debt to Experian, Equifax and TransUnion and unlawfully attempted to collect a debt that was beyond the statute of limitations.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages of $1,000, actual damages, attorneys’ fees, costs, interest and such other and further relief as the court may deem proper. She is represented by Russell S. Thompson IV of Thompson Consumer Law Group PLLC in Mesa, Arizona.
