No damages awarded in worker’s comp case against BISD

BEAUMONT – No damages were awarded in a worker’s compensation lawsuit brought against the Beaumont Independent School District.

After exhausting her remedies, Cynthia Richardson filed her suit Nov. 2, 2015 in Jefferson County District Court, seeking review of the decision of the Appeals Panel of the Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Worker’s Compensation.

According to the original petition, the Appeal Panel affirmed the following determination in its final decision: “The Claimant’s compensable injury on March 27, 2014 does not extend to include does not extend to include left wrist de Quervain’s disease.”

The case was called up for trial on Oct. 29 and ended the next day with no damages awarded to the plaintiff, according to a courthouse official.  

Judge Justin Sanderson, 60th District Court, is presiding over the litigation.
