BEAUMONT – A Jones Act seaman seeks damages from Pearland resident over injuries he allegedly sustained while assisting to load an anchor on a ship.

Hung Q. Le filed a complaint on Oct. 19 in the Jefferson County District Court against Son An Luong alleging that the vessel owner failed to provide and maintain a reasonably safe equipment.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 21, he was employed by defendant working aboard the F/V Kim Long and was injured when an anchor and carpet pole fell on him

The plaintiff holds Luong responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide adequate training and supervision, failed to implement adequate safety measures and failed to provide adequate medical treatment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million and such other and further relief to which he is justly entitled. He is represented by Joseph D. Terry and L. Lee Thweatt of Terry & Thweatt PC in Houston.
