RLB Contracting employee seeks $2.5 million in damages over falls

HOUSTON – A seaman is seeking $2.5 million over two falls that allegedly injured him while he was working aboard a vessel.

Horacio Beltran filed a complaint on Nov. 5 in the Harris County District Court against RLB Contracting Inc. alleging failure to provide a seaworthy vessel.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 18 through June 21, 2017, he was injured twice in falls while in the course and scope of his employment with defendant. He alleges he sustained severe bodily injuries resulting in physical pain, mental anguish, loss of earnings and medical expenses. He also alleges that the defendant has failed to pay maintenance and cure.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in an amount of no less than $2.5 million, interest, costs and such other and further relief to which he may be justly entitled. He is represented by Anthony G. Buzbee of The Buzbee Law Firm in Houston.
