HOUSTON – A Harris County man alleges he was injured while working at a steel distribution facility in Houston by a trailer gate.

Davarius Byrd filed a complaint on Nov. 19 in the Harris County District Court against Custom Security Fence & Iron Works LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 24, he was helping defendant's truck driver and was injured when the strap securing the trailer gate came loose, causing the gate to crash on his leg. He alleges he sustained two large open wounds on his leg and was caused to suffer medical expenses, pain and mental anguish.

The plaintiff holds Custom Security Fence & Iron Works LLC responsible because defendant's truck driver failed to properly secure the steel utility panels on the trailer, failed to secure the trailer and failed to maintain a safe load of cargo.

The plaintiff seeks damages of more than $1 million, with interest, costs and such other and further relief to which he is entitled. He is represented by Muhammad S. Aziz of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Agosto & Aziz in Houston.
