BEAUMONT – A patient is seeking damages from a Beaumont physician after his common bile duct was cut during a procedure.

Joshua Wheat filed a complaint on Oct. 30 in the Jefferson County District Court against Garrett Keith Peel, MD; Previty Surgical Consultants LLC, et al. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 4, 2017, he underwent a laparoscopic cholecystectomy performed by defendant Peel. The suit states during the procedure, Peel transected the common bile duct and failed to diagnose the plaintiff with an active bile leak. The suit states the plaintiff needed operative intervention to repair the injury in February.

The plaintiff holds Peel, Previty Surgical Consultants LLC, et al. responsible because Peel allegedly failed to accurately identify the anatomy prior to cutting and by failing to recognize and repair the transection.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all damages, with interest, costs and such other and further relief to which he is justly entitled. He is represented by Tommy R. Hastings and Gregory L. Feste of Hastings Law Firm PC in The Woodlands.
