HOUSTON – An African-American couple has filed a suit against a home builder over allegations their home has defects.

Matthew and Camilla Conerly filed a complaint on Nov. 19 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Liberty Home Builders LLC, et al. citing the Texas Residential Construction Liability Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 30, 2016, they purchased a residential property at 4822 Pecan Arbor Lane, Houston from Liberty Home Builders. The plaintiffs allege they discovered eight specific defects in the home and contacted Liberty Home Builders in April 2017 about them, but were advised it would not fix the delinquencies in their home.

The plaintiffs allege they have suffered damages because the construction defects have not been cured.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek compensatory and punitive damages. They are representing themselves.
