HOUSTON – A construction worker is seeking more than $1 million over an accident at a Houston site that allegedly caused a traumatic brain injury.

Carlos Genis filed a complaint on Dec. 5 in the Harris County District Court against Sassafras Construction Co., et al. alleging negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 13, he was an invitee at defendants' job site in Houston performing maintenance work on the second floor of a two-story home. He alleges a piece of plywood placed by the defendants broke, causing him to fall to the first floor. He alleges he sustained severe injuries, including but not limited to traumatic brain injury, as a result.

The plaintiff holds Sassafras Construction Co., et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide safety equipment and proper training and supervision to avoid work-related injury and failed to comply with safety requirements regarding construction as set out by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million. He is represented by R. James Amaro and Matthew A. Elwell of The Amaro Law Firm in Houston.
