HOUSTON — A Houston woman is suing a Spring waxing center, alleging that she was burned by wax during a treatment.

Sylvia McFee filed a complaint June 24 in Harris County District Court against European Wax Center and UPMA Cosmetics Inc., alleging gross negligence.

The suit alleges on Jan. 11, 2018, McFree was at European Way Center, 21189 Kuykendahl, Spring. According to the complaint, McFree requested a Brazilian wax treatment but the technician who did the waxing failed to ensure that the wax was at a safe temperature. The plaintiff said she was scalded by the wax, causing tears and bleeding in her public area.

McFee seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest, court costs, trial by jury and all other equitable relief. She is represented by attorney Cynthia Huerta of Schechter, McElwee, Shaffer & Harris LLP in Houston.
