HOUSTON – A Pearland man alleges he was injured at a Louisiana refinery when a line exploded.
Edward Branch filed a complaint on Dec. 10 in the Galveston County District Court against Shell Oil Co., et al. alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff worked for JV Industrial and was working at a refinery in Convent, Louisiana in July 2018.
The suit states on July 4, 2018, the plaintiff was carrying out his assigned duties as a foreman. The suit states the defendants represented to the plaintiff that a line was safe to open, but when his crew opened the line, it exploded. He alleges he suffered injuries to his knee in an attempt to jump out of the way to avoid further injuries.
The plaintiff holds Shell Oil Co., et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to follow process safety measures, failed to maintain a safe working environment and failed to ensure safety personnel were in place.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $100,000 but no more than $200,000 and such other and further relief to which he may be justly entitled. He is represented by Willie C. Briscoe of The Briscoe Law Firm PLLC in Dallas.
