Marriott named in doctor's slip and fall lawsuit

Lawsuits

HOUSTON – An Alabama physician has filed a slip and fall lawsuit against Marriott International, Inc., doing business as Houston Marriott Medical Center/Museum District, in response to an alleged incident last year in which he sustained leg and knee injuries.

According to court papers filed on Dec. 7 in the Harris County 295th District Court, Dr. Mark N. Hadley slipped and fell on a painted concrete pathway in the vicinity of the defendant’s indoor pool on the night of May 9, 2017.

Hadley, who was attending a conference at the hotel, asserts that “the pathway was poorly lit” thus “making the water or other liquid invisible.”

His injuries were so painful to the point where he required a wheelchair to travel back to his native Birmingham, Ala., the original petition says.

The complainant says that he had surgery shortly after his return home and is presently unable to work.

Consequently, Hadley seeks unspecified monetary damages.

He is represented by Tim K. Goss of the law firm Freese & Goss, PLLC in Dallas.
