HOUSTON – A fastener supplier has been accused of terminating a male employee because of his age.

According to Harris County District Court records, Albert S. Cooper, Jr. filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against Delta Fastener Corp. in the 270th District Court on Dec. 12.

Cooper, whom the defendant employed as a warehouse manager, explains that he enjoyed approximately 25 years working for the company until it “began illegally discriminating against (him) because of his age.”

The employer allegedly demoted the plaintiff in favor of “someone younger,” as well as reduced his pay and hours. Cooper asserts that he was the lone employee “who the defendant treated this way.”

“The defendant stated that the defendant did not ‘want the plaintiff dying on my property because of the heat and his age,’” the original petition says.

Cooper says the respondent “manufactured a pretextual basis” for firing him,

Consequently, the complainant seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

He is represented by Foster Salisbury PLLC in Houston.
