GALVESTON – A Friendswood couple alleges a Galveston County contractor charged inflated prices and failed to obtain permits.

Marcos Acuna and Joanna Tayamo filed a complaint on Dec. 11 in the Galveston County District Court against John P. Beam alleging that the remodeling contractor violated the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege on Dec. 19, 2016, they hired the defendant to remodel their home. They allege Beam failed to obtain proper permits, failed to appear at inspections, and overbid jobs, so they terminated him in February 2017.

The plaintiffs hold Beam responsible because the defendant allegedly misrepresented the quality and standards of his services in repairing the home.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek economic damages, fees, interest, costs and expenses of suit. They are represented by Daniel L. Sanders of Law offices of Daniel L. Sanders in Houston.
