GALVESTON – A North Carolina man is seeking damages from his employer over injuries he allegedly sustained while working aboard a dredge.

Dennis C. Pittman Sr. filed a complaint on Dec. 19 in the Galveston Division of the Southern District of Texas against The Dutra Group alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 15, 2016, and July 4, 2017, he was in the course and scope of his employment aboard defendant's dredge vessel Columbia when he was injured. He alleges suffered injuries to his thoracic spine and legs and needed medical treatment.

The plaintiff holds The Dutra Group responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide a safe place to work and failed to properly manage and maintain its vessel.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all unpaid wages, maintenance and medical expenses and all future medical expenses. He is represented by J. Christopher Zainey Jr. of Huber Thomas & Marcelle LLP in New Orleans.
