GALVESTON – A League City resident alleges her roof was damaged during an inspection by a roofing company.

Michelle Kiani filed a complaint on Dec. 21 in the Galveston County District Court against Stronghold Restoration and Roofing alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff's homeowner's insurance carrier inspected her roof for damage following a storm and the plaintiff contacted roofing companies for repairs. The suit states on Sept. 14 and 15, 2017, the defendant inspected plaintiff's roof and opined that the entire roof needed to be replaced and provided photos showing the damages.

The plaintiff alleges the photos provided by the defendant showed damages that were not present at the time her insurance company inspected the roof and that the defendant negligently and/or intentionally caused the damage.

As a result of defendant's allegedly negligent acts, the plaintiff states she incurred damages totaling $10,632.26.

The plaintiff holds Stronghold Restoration and Roofing responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to perform an inspection without damaging the shingles and allowing or instructing its employees or contractors to intentionally damage the roof.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief aggregating $100,000 or less. She is represented by Stephen E. Garner and Matthew R. Chaney of The Garner Law Firm in Houston.
