HOUSTON – A Louisiana man claims in a state district lawsuit that he was injured during his stay more than a year ago at a downtown Houston hotel.

Recent Harris County District Court records show that Lerone Carter is suing the property’s owners, Pearl Hospitality, Inc. and 806 Main Hotel LLC, in the 164th District Court, alleging that “a large barn style sliding door” in his room fell on him.

“The door struck the plaintiff in the back of his head, neck, and back,” court filings dating Dec. 21 say. “The blow knocked the plaintiff to the ground, and the door then fell on top of the plaintiff.”

Carter faults the defendants for failing to safely maintain the door in addition to failing to warn him.

Consequently, the complainant seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

He is represented by Timothy O. Partin of the Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
