HOUSTON – The spouse and estate representative of a man who formerly resided at a Humble skilled nursing facility allege he developed multiple pressure ulcers while there.

Rachel Holmes, on behalf of the estate of Eugene Nixon, deceased, and Mary Nixon filed a complaint on Dec. 21 in the Harris County District Court against HMG Park Manor of Deerbrook LLC, et al. alleging medical negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, on Jan, 16, 2017, Eugene Nixon was admitted to defendants' Deerbrook Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center due to progressing dementia. The plaintiffs allege as a result of defendants' negligent acts and omissions, he developed multiple pressure ulcers and urinary tract infections and was severely dehydrated. The suit states he died on May 21, 2017.

The plaintiffs hold HMG Park Manor of Deerbrook LLC, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to monitor Eugene Nixon's skin integrity to ensure he did not develop pressure ulcers and failed to implement measures to prevent the development of pressure ulcers.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek actual and economic damages, costs, attorney's fees, interest and such other and further relief deemed fair and just. They are represented by Patrick W. Powers and Breana M. Rosenbaum of Powers Taylor LLP in Dallas.
