The Lanier Law Firm issued the following announcement on Dec. 31.
Each month, we like to feature one of our attorneys to help you get to know our team better. We sat down with an associate on our Trial Team, Monica Cooper, to talk about her background in the legal field and what she is currently working on.
What led you to a legal career?
I wanted to be a lawyer since I was a child, before I even understood what lawyers did! I always knew I wanted to be heard. I wanted to speak up for something good and help people.
What has been your most interesting or memorable case and why?
The Ingham v. Johnson & Johnson case was such a mix of complexity and emotion. To know that a company preyed on women, children, and families’ trust, and help bring them to justice was phenomenal. I also enjoyed getting to really know and love our clients throughout the trial. The whole experience was life changing.
What litigation are you currently working on?
I am working on the next talcum powder case, representing 24 ovarian cancer victims, set for trial in April. I am also part of our firm’s initiative to bring defendants to justice who have turned a blind eye to victims of human trafficking. Finally, I am working on various commercial matters here in Texas and around the country.
What are one or two things about you that most people don’t know?
In my free time, I like to rock climb and blues dance. My comfort food is Chinese food because my mom is Chinese. I have a terrible dog and cat, who tear up the house, but I still love them.
