HOUSTON – Asserting that he was physically assaulted at a Wal-Mart two years ago, Harris County resident Gary Ratliff has filed a lawsuit against the Arkansas-based discount retailer.

Ratliff’s suit, which was filed on Dec. 28, 2018 in the Harris County 295th District Court, accuses a loss prevention employee at the defendant’s store located at 9598 Rowlett Rd. in Houston of detaining the plaintiff without legal authority and violently attacking him unprovoked.

Court papers refute the employee Ricardo Lopez’s shoplifting claims against Ratliff. Lopez is a co-defendant in the litigation.

Consequently, the plaintiff seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

He is represented by Lance Hamm of Houston.
