HOUSTON – A Harris County woman alleges she was injured at a Houston reception hall because of a slippery section of the dance floor.
Maria Morales filed a complaint on Dec. 31 in the Harris County District Court against The Gardens Houston, et al. alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 1, 2017, she was a guest at a wedding at the defendants' The Gardens Venue reception hall in Houston when she fell down on the dance floor and was injured. The suit states the defendants had placed a board or another similar item on top of a section of the floor that was slippery.
The suit states because of the fall, the plaintiff sustained a broken arm that required her to be hospitalized to undergo multiple surgeries.
The plaintiff holds The Gardens Houston, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly breached their duty of ordinary care by failing to inspect and maintain their premises.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million, with interest and such other and further relief to which she may be justly entitled. She is represented by Don E. McClure Jr. of Don E. McClure Jr. PLLC in Houston.
