HOUSTON – A Harris County woman accuses a senior living facility of firing her over what she claims were “reckless” allegations and has pursued legal action against her former employer.

In a lawsuit filed against The Buckingham on Jan. 14 in the Harris County 125th District Court, Angela Hurst Washington asserts that her termination was a result of a resident and an employee pinning a burglary of a habitation on her.

Hurst Washington, 43, was employed by the defendant as a full-time security officer. She learned of the burglary accusations against her when Houston police pulled her over as she was heading out to a beautician appointment, the suit says.

Hurst Washington was implicated in burglarizing Mary Emrich, who lived at The Buckingham.

The original petition adds that the plaintiff had the case dismissed for lack of evidence to meet reasonable doubt standards but lost her employment and was forced “to put her life back together and get back on her feet” because Buckingham agent Elizabeth George disseminated false information.

George and Emrich join The Buckingham as co-defendants in the litigation.

Consequently, Hurst Washington seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

She is represented by U.A. Lewis of The Lewis Law Group PLLC in Houston.
