HOUSTON – A Harris County woman employed as an exotic dancer at a local gentlemen’s club is suing the business for purportedly improper pay practices.

Houston federal court records show that Roslyn Ross brought a lawsuit against A.H.D. Houston, Inc., individually and doing business as Centerfolds, on Jan. 15.

“Specifically, Ross files this complaint on her behalf and on behalf of other dancers who were misclassified as independent contractors and who were not paid minimum wage and/or one and one-half times their regular hourly rate for hours worked in excess of forty in the workweek,” the original petition explains.

The plaintiff asserts that the club had a statutory obligation to pay her a minimum wage of at least $7.25 per hour she worked but failed to fulfill.

“Ross was economically dependent upon the business of Centerfolds,” the suit says. “Ross was not in business for herself.”

A jury trial is requested.

The law firm Fiddler & Associates, P.C. in Houston is representing the complainant.
