HOUSTON – A collision in the Houston Ship Channel on Christmas more than a year ago has prompted a Harris County seaman to initiate litigation.

Harris County District Court records show that William Wadjak brought a lawsuit against his employer, Texas Mooring LLC, on Jan. 16 in the 234th District Court.

According to the suit, Wadjak was traveling through the ship channel to a chemical plant aboard a vessel owned by the defendant with it collided “with a solid structure in the water.”

“That sudden collision caused Mr. Wadjak to be thrown violently to the floor of the vessel, instantly breaking two bones in his right arm,” the original petition says. “Mr. Wadjak had to undergo surgery and continues to suffer from the injury to his arm.”

Wadjak asserts that the respondent “was negligent in operating the vessel on the day in question.”

“The vessel in question was unseaworthy,” the suit says.

Consequently, the complainant seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

He is represented by The Buzbee Law Firm in Houston.
