HOUSTON – A Fort Bend County woman’s ride in an elevator at a downtown Houston building last year allegedly caused her to suffer injuries, according to a state district lawsuit.
Mary Barnes is suing Lionstone Partners, LLC and Schlinder Elevator Corp. in the Harris County 55th District Court, asserting the elevator at 712 Main St. “dropped suddenly at a fast pace” with her and a co-worker inside.
“The fast drop and abrupt stop of the elevator caused the plaintiff’s body to jerk in the elevator and caused her to fall,” court filings dated Jan. 22 state.
The suit adds that “there were several problems with the elevators in the building” prior to the Apr. 13, 2018 incident.
Lionstone is implicated as the premises manager while Schindler is believed to have contracted with the former to maintain and repair the elevators.
Consequently, Barnes seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.
She is represented by The Leon Law Firm, P.C. in Sugar Land.
