GALVESTON – A Louisiana man alleges he was injured during a swing transfer from a platform in the Gulf of Mexico to a vessel.

Terry Ausama filed a complaint on Jan. 10 in the Galveston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Arena Offshore LP, Arena Offshore Operating LLC and C&G Boats and alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was employed by Performance Energy and was working as a welder on the Arena defendants' South Timbalier platform in the Gulf of Mexico. He alleges on Dec. 16, 2018, he was performing a swing transfer from the platform to C&G Boats' vessel when he was injured. The suit states the vessel moved, causing him to hit the edge of the boat and sustain severe and disabling injuries.

The plaintiff holds Arena Offshore, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to maintain the vessel and her appurtenances and/or equipment in a safe and reasonable state of repair and failed to maintain the vessel in a steady and proper manner.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in his favor for damages in an amount exceeding the jurisdictional limits of the court, interest, attorney’s fees, costs and such other and further relief to which he is entitled. He is represented by Marcus R. Spagnoletti of Spagnoletti Law Firm in Houston.
