HOUSTON – Tiendas Cuadra US LLC is alleged in a former employee’s wrongful termination lawsuit to have fostered a hostile work environment, according to Houston federal court records.
Rene Hernandez initiated litigation against the company on Jan. 24, claiming that she was discriminated against because she is a middle-aged woman who practices Islam during her course of employment.
Court filings further assert that the defendant had a preference for Mexican nationals, of which Hernandez is not. It is also accused of retaliating against the complainant for her refusal to accept a dock in her pay as a result of “a significant amount of inventory that was missing.”
Hernandez says that she was fired in early 2018 raising issue with supposed corporate fraud.
Consequently, she seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.
C. Patrick Ngwolo of Houston is representing the plaintiff.
