Tugboat 01

HOUSTON – A Harris County man is seeking $1 million from his employers over back injuries he allegedly sustained while working aboard a push/towboat.

Justin D. Hines filed a complaint on Jan. 16 in the Harris County District Court against Echo Marine LTD and Echo Towing Services Inc.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 24, 2018, he was a senior deck hand working aboard defendants' M/V Nita E and injured his back while trying to secure an empty barge. He alleges he sought medical treatment and is still undergoing care.

The plaintiff holds Echo Marine LTD and Echo Towing Services Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide an adequate, properly trained and competent crew and failed to provide proper equipment for the task.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million and such other and further relief to which he may be justly entitled. He is represented by Charles F. Herd Jr. of Herd Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
