Car accident 33

HOUSTON – A Harris County woman is seeking more than $1 million from two drivers and a business over a collision on Interstate 45.

Jennifer Lopez filed a complaint on Jan. 17 in the Harris County District Court against Stevens Trucking Co. Reginald Ellis Goode and Carlos Gevochi Garcia Mejia alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 28, 2018, Mejia was traveling in the inside lane of I-45 when his wheel blew out, causing his vehicle to strike the plaintiff's vehicle. The suit states the plaintiff's vehicle struck a concrete barrier, stopped in a traffic lane, and was then struck head-on by Goode, an employee of Stevens Trucking.

The plaintiff alleges she sustained injuries to her neck, back, hip and extremities as a result of the crush.

The plaintiff holds Stevens Trucking Co., Goode and Mejia responsible because defendant Goode allegedly failed to observe and react to traffic conditions and failed to focus on the operation of his vehicle because he was using a cellphone or radio, and defendant Mejia allegedly failed to ensure that the tires of the vehicle he was driving were proper for operation on the highway. She alleges Stevens Trucking failed to train or supervise Goode in the operation of a commercial vehicle.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in an amount of more than $1 million, with interest, costs and such other and further relief to which she may be justly entitled. She is represented by Anthony G. Buzbee and Bret Griffin of The Buzbee Law Firm in Houston.
