HOUSTON – A Harris County woman alleges a medical procedure performed in 2017 caused her injury.

Ashley Reed filed a complaint on Jan. 30 in the Harris County District Court against Regional Digestive Consultant PA, Dr. Hari Pokala, Dr. Shailaja S. Behara and Dr. Kashif J. Piracha alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 26, 2017, she underwent endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography performed by Behara (ERCP) and Behara noted multiple common duct stones. She alleges after the procedure, she experienced abdominal pain and a CT scan on Aug. 30, 2017, discovered a stent placed Aug. 26 had perforated the duodenum.

The plaintiff holds Regional Digestive Consultant PA, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to follow plaintiff's post-ERCP progress and timely address any potential complications and failed to diagnose and treat the duodenal perforation and ongoing biliary obstruction.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million and such other and further relief to which she may be justly entitled. She is represented by Steven R. Davis and John A. Davis Jr. of Davis & Davis, Attorneys at Law in Houston.
