HOUSTON – A patient has filed suit against a plastic surgeon in The Woodlands over allegations that she was injured by a breast implant surgery.
Brandi Edwards filed a complaint on Feb. 1 in the Harris County District Court against Dr. Thomas P. McHugh alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in March 2017, the defendant removed and replaced breast implants that had been placed by a different surgeon. The suit states after the surgery, she experienced pain in her left breast and another procedure was done in April 2017 to remove the implant, immerse it in an antibiotic solution, and replace it.
The plaintiff alleges the left implant became infected and was later removed. She alleges the pain persisted and she was referred to a pain management physician. The suit states she had revision surgery in November 2018 with a different physician.
The plaintiff holds McHugh responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to perform extensive pre-operative examination, failed to use the breast base width diameter as guide for an appropriate implant size and failed to protect the nerves.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million and such other and further relief to which she may be justly entitled. She is represented by Robert W. Painter and Taunya M. Painter of Painter Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
