HOUSTON – A Houston At Home store customer alleges she was injured when an office chair she was testing collapsed.

Lotus Scott filed a complaint on Feb. 5 in the Harris County District Court against At Home Stores LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 19, she was an invitee at defendant At Home's store in Houston when the office chair she was testing collapsed, causing her to fall to the ground. She alleges the fall caused her to sustain serious injuries to her neck, back, shoulder and other parts of the body.

The suit states a store manager discovered upon inspecting the chair that it was missing screws meant to support the base.

The plaintiff holds At Home Stores LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly created and/or failed to correct the dangerous condition and did not warn her about it.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $100,000 and and such other and further relief to which she may be justly entitled. She is represented by A. Clement Wehner of Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
