Clark Hill issued the following announcement on Feb. 6.
Member-in-Charge of Clark Hill Strasburger’s Houston office, Elizabeth “Betsy” Kamin, has been named a 2019 “Premier Woman In Law” by the Houston Association of Women Attorneys (AWA). Kamin is recognized for her remarkable contributions to the practice of law as well as support for career advancement for women attorneys. She will be acknowledged at the 8th Annual Premier Women in Law Luncheon on March 20, 2019, taking place at Houston’s Hyatt Regency Hotel.
“It comes as no surprise to see her recognized for the endless commitment and spirit she has for our clients, as well as for her support of the new wave of women leaders in our industry,” said Dan Butcher, Clark Hill Strasburger Member. “Whether it’s because of her 30 plus years of outstanding client service or leading Clark Hill Strasburger BOLD, our program dedicated to advancing women attorneys, she continues motivating and inspiring younger generations to grow in our industry. Today, others are taking notice of the work we at Clark Hill Strasburger have seen all along.”
Kamin, who handles dispute resolution, commercial and serious injury/death cases, is Chair of Clark Hill BOLD and its Texas counterpart Clark Hill Strasburger BOLD, the firm's strategy to promote women within the firm, the legal profession, and the global community. She was named one of Houston’s 50 most influential women by Houston Woman Magazine (January 2014), rated AV-Preeminent by Martindale-Hubble, named among The Best Lawyers in America - Commercial Litigation by Best Lawyers (2016-2019), and named Texas Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters (2006-2011).
“Looking at the list of past recipients, I am deeply humbled to be included among them and to be named alongside this year’s other Women in Law recipients,” said Kamin. “The importance of mentoring younger women can’t be overstated and I only hope that those I have had the privilege to mentor in the past have received half as much as I’ve gained in knowing and learning from them. As demonstrated by recent events, our work is not done and I look forward to building on to the progress of our BOLD program.”
The Premier Women in Law Luncheon, which also honors Burke Butler, Amanda McMillan and Phyllis Young as part of this year’s class, is an annual event that is held to recognize distinguished attorneys who are leaders in their practice and advocates in the development of women within their profession. The event is held with the purpose of raising money for female Houston-area law students who will also be honored at the luncheon.
