HOUSTON – Asserting that her visit to the Chinese Community Center last year resulted in a trip and fall, Harris County resident Doreen Reed has filed a personal injury lawsuit.

Reed initiated litigation against the CCC on Feb. 11 in the Harris County 190th District Court in response to the Jan. 19, 2018 incident at the defendant’s property located at 9800 Town Park Dr. in Houston.

According to court documents, the plaintiff was descending stairs on the premises when she “tripped, fell, and was badly injured.”

“The stairs’ surface material was hard, slippery, had sharp edges, and did not have a proper rise over run relationship making them hazardous,” the original petition says.

It argues that the respondent could have eliminated the hazard “through proper inspection, warning, and/or repair.”

Consequently, Reed seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

The law firm Peckham Martin in Houston is representing the complainant.
