HOUSTON – A Houston woman alleges she was injured at the Houston Galleria Mall in a fall caused by a wet floor and is seeking damages from the mall's janitorial contractors.
Denise Canales filed a complaint on Feb. 8 in the Harris County District Court against Simon Property Group (Texas) LP, et al. alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 12, 2017, she was an invitee at Houston Galleria Mall when she slipped and fell on a wet surface just outside of Rainforest Cafe. She alleges she immediately experienced significant pain in her left knee after the fall. On March 13, 2017, the suit states an MRI showed a complete tear on her ACL ligament.
The suit states at the time of the plaintiff's fall, the defendants were the janitorial contractors for Houston Galleria and were responsible for maintaining the area where she fell.
The plaintiff holds Simon Property Group Texas LP, et al. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to adequately warn her of the condition or by failed to make it reasonably safe.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all damages with interest, costs of court and such other and further relief to which she may be entitled. She is represented by Marcus L. Stevenson of The Stevenson Law Firm PC in Pearland.
