HOUSTON – A Dallas County man alleges an oil rig operator's failure to provide a safe place to work caused him injuries.

Edward Henderson filed a complaint on Feb. 11 in the Harris County District Court against Citation Oil & Gas Corp alleging that the oil rig operator failed to provide a safe place to work.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 10, 2017, he was employed by Basic Energy Services working on defendant's Sendero Rig No. 18 on the White J M 22 well in Andrews County. The suit states the plaintiff was underneath the rig when the traveling block came down because wires had broken, and as he was running to get away, his knee hit the top of one of the bales, causing him to trip over a hose or pipe and fall to the ground.

The plaintiff holds Citation Oil & Gas Corp responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly maintain and operate the rig and the block, failed to provide a competent crew and failed to provide proper tools and equipment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million and such other and further relief to which he may be justly entitled. He is represented by Jeff Seely and R. Todd Elias of Gordon Elias and Seely LLP in Houston.
