HOUSTON – A north Houston restaurant owner blames a fire to his business last year on an electric floor fan.

Bao Le, the proprietor of Bayou Seafood & More located at 10040 Veterans Memorial Dr., is suing the fan’s purported manufacturer, Lasko Products, Inc., over the Aug. 27, 2018 blaze.

Le initially sued Lasko in the Harris County 269th District Court earlier this year with the litigation currently under the jurisdiction of the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas.

According to the plaintiff, the product “sparked and ignited a fire inside the restaurant” suddenly and without warning.

“The fire quickly consumed the restaurant and everything inside the restaurant,” court papers explain. “The restaurant was completely destroyed from the fire.”

Deeming the fan “was defective and in unsafe condition,” the suit faults Lasko for failing to ensure the product was in working order.

Consequently, the complainant unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

He is represented by The Buzbee Law Firm in Houston.
