Consumer accuses telemarketer of harassment

SHERMAN — A Fannin County woman is suing a telemarketer, alleging harassment. 

Kayla J. Ross filed a complaint Feb. 25 in the Sherman Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Wakefield & Associates Inc., alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, in 2018 and 2019, Ross was repeatedly called by the defendant, alleging to be a debt collection agency seeking payment. The suit says Wakefield placed at least 20 calls to the plaintiff.

Ross seeks damages of at least $500 per phone call, plus treble damages, attorney fees and court costs. She is represented by attorneys Nathan C. Volheim and Taxiarchis Hatzidimitriadis of of Sulaiman Law Group Ltd in Lombard, Illinois.
