BEAUMONT - A petition is seeking a man’s chemical exposure history to benzene, which was allegedly manufactured and sold by Chevron.

Nora Gerald, seeking to perpetuate the testimony of Charles Gerald before suit, filed the petition on Feb. 19 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the petition, Charles was diagnosed with blood cancer. The disease is allegedly the result of exposure to benzene, which was used, made and sold by Chevron.

Charles’ chances of recovering are poor, the petition states.

Provost Umphrey attorney Darren Brown is representing the couple.

Judge Kent Walston, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.

Case No. A-203362
